If you’ve been using Pinterest for a while, you’ve probably noticed that your boards are filled with duplicate pins—sometimes without even realizing it.
I ran into this issue when I started organizing my boards. While scrolling, I saw the same image pinned multiple times across different boards.
It looked repetitive and messy, and worst of all, my engagement was also affected.

At first, I thought Pinterest had an easy fix for this. But guess what?
There’s no official “delete all duplicates” button!
That’s why I had to figure out the best way to manually find and delete duplicate pins, and I’m sharing that process with you today.
If you want to clean up your Pinterest boards and keep your account fresh, this blog post will show you how to delete duplicate pins on Pinterest step by step—whether you’re using a desktop or a Phone.

What is a Duplicate Pin?
A duplicate pin is when the same image is pinned multiple times on your Pinterest account. It can happen in different ways:
✔ Pinning the same image to multiple boards
✔ Saving someone else’s pin that you already have on another board
✔ Accidentally repinning your own content multiple times
Remember, if you pin the same URL with a different pin image, title, and description, it does not count as a duplicate.
Should You Create Duplicate Pins?
You might be wondering, “Is it bad to create duplicate pins?” The answer is yes.
Pinterest likes fresh content so you should avoid pinning duplicate pins.
It’s a good practice to create fresh pins (new designs, images, or titles) for the same URL is totally fine.
But pinning the same pin to multiple boards or to the same board is a bad practice and may be considered as spam by Pinterest.
To keep your Pinterest profile optimized, it’s best to delete duplicate pins and focus on fresh content instead.

Why Deleting Duplicate Pins is Important
✔ Boosts Engagement – Repeating the same pins can lower their visibility in the algorithm.
✔ Prevents a Spammy Look – Too many identical pins can make your account seem automated.
✔ Keeps Boards Organized – A well-structured Pinterest profile is more appealing to users.
✔ Improves Search Rankings – Unique, fresh pins perform better in Pinterest search results.
How to Delete Duplicate Pins on Pinterest (Desktop)
If you’re using Pinterest on a desktop, follow these steps to find and remove duplicate pins efficiently:
Log in to your Pinterest account.
Go to your homepage and click on saved to access your boards.
Open a board where you suspect there are duplicate pins.
Scroll through your board and look for identical pin images. This part takes a little time, but it’s worth it!
At the top of the board, you’ll see the “Organize” option. Click on it to select multiple duplicate pins at once.

Click on each duplicate pin you want to delete. They will be highlighted once selected.
Once you’ve selected all the duplicates, click the trash icon and confirm the deletion.

If there is only one duplicate pin, just hover over the pin and click on the pencil icon at the bottom right of the pin. Then select delete.

How to Delete Duplicate Pins on Phone (Pinterest App)
If you prefer using the Pinterest app on your phone, here’s how you can delete duplicate pins:
Open the Pinterest app and sign in to your account.
Tap on your profile picture at the bottom of the screen to go to your homepage.
Choose the board where you want to remove duplicate pins.
Pinterest does not automatically show you duplicate pins, so you’ll need to scroll through and visually identify duplicated pins.

Once you spot a duplicate, click to open it and then press on the three dots beneath it.

Select edit pin.

Then tap on delete pin and confirm deleting it.

If you have multiple duplicate pins, open the board and click organize. Then tap on the duplicate pins to select them. Press the trash icon at the bottom of the screen and confirm deletion.
Important Points to Remember
Bulk deletion is only available within boards. If you have duplicates across multiple boards, you’ll need to repeat the process for each one.
Deleted pins cannot be recovered. Make sure you really want to delete them before confirming.
Final Thoughts
Having duplicate pins on Pinterest can make your account look cluttered and lower engagement. While Pinterest doesn’t offer an automatic “delete duplicate pins” feature, following these simple steps will help you clean up your boards efficiently.
