Should You Delete Pinterest Pins That Are Under Performing
To answer this question in a better way, I would like to know which pins are in question.
Either the ones that you created or the ones that you just saved/repin on Pinterest.
Yes, there’s a difference.
The pins that you created belong to you and if properly created, will be directed to a URL on your blog. So, if you intend to delete such a pin, my response will be No.
You should not delete the pins that you created and are directed to any content on your blog.
On the other hand, if you have repined someone else’s pins and you feel like it is not aligning with your niche and content. Then, in such a case you can delete such Pinterest pins.

What Type of Pinterest Pins You Should Delete?
I recommend deleting Pinterest pins in only a few circumstances which are as follows:
First scenario
You created and pinned the same pin image twice by mistake, then you should delete the duplicate pin. This is because Pinterest loves and distributes new content to its audience.
Second scenario
You have converted your personal Pinterest account to a business account. In this case, there may be some old pins that do not align with your niche and account. So, you can delete those pins to declutter your account.
Third scenario
If you have repined other’s pin that is not related to your niche or the board that you saved it to. Then you can go forward and delete it.

We talk about the pins that you should or can delete without harming your Pinterest account. It is important to discuss which Pinterest pins you should never delete.
According to my 7 to 8 years of experience in Pinterest marketing, I would strongly suggest you NEVER delete any of your underperforming pins.
You may have heard different opinions from other so-called Pinterest gurus. But this is what I have learned with all of my Pinterest accounts.
And let me tell you why I am saying so.
Pinterest is a long-term game. This is because it is a visual search engine.
This is why it takes time before any of your pins rank for a certain keyword.
Many times, a pin that has not gained traction for months or even years will start getting engagement and go viral.
So, the point is that you never know which of your pins will take off. And if by any chance, thinking of it as nothing more than a dead pin, you delete it. Who knows you just lost a pin that could have been a traffic treasure for your blog.
Do I Delete My Pinterest Pins?
No, I don’t delete my pins other than the scenarios that I mentioned above.
I never delete any of my pins that are not performing well. And the reason is what I mentioned earlier.
I have seen many of my very old pins suddenly getting traction and driving me a lot of traffic.
This is just how the Pinterest algorithm works.

According to my experience, there are three different circumstances when you should consider deleting your Pinterest pins.
- Duplicate pin images.
- Older pins, that do not align with your niche.
- Repins from other accounts that are not related to your niche.
Other than this I don’t consider and advise Pinterest pins to be deleted. This is because the Pinterest algorithm works very differently from social media.
Any of your pins that you created months and months before have the potential to suddenly take off and drive tons of traffic.
